V'mal was a dragonrider at High Reaches Weyr late in the Sixth Pass. His dragon was brown Koth. He and Koth died during threadfall.

Both The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern Second Edition ©1997' and 'The People of Pern' at the end of Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern state that V'mal and Koth were from High Reaches Weyr. K'lion's comment to Alessan, "We have had only one death at Fort, an elderly brown rider and his dragon, Koth," would indicate that V'mal and Koth were either actual Fort riders or were temporarily assigned to Fort.
