The Tuaregs were some of the traveling folk who colonized Pern.
When the colony ships arrived at Pern, the traveling folks were given homes at the edge of Landing, but they preferred to settle away from the others and spread throughout the Southern Continent.
After the first Threadfall, the only survivors of the Tuareg camps were two babies who had been hidden inside a metal cabinet.
