Maidir was Lord Holder of Benden Hold late in the Eighth Interval.
Biography[]
After Maidir requested a Master Harper in vocal traditions for Benden Hold, Merelan asked to be assigned to the post, along with her son Robinton - because Maidir had been after her for some time to come and teach music to some very promising youngsters.
After Lord Maidir sent a dragon for them, they were met by Lord Maidir, Lady Hayara and two of their children, Maizella and Raid. Maidir explained to Merelan that some of the promising youngsters she would be teaching included Maizella, Raid and S'loner's son Falloner.
It was soon discovered that, even though Maizella had a good voice, she tended to shriek and didn't have much breath control. Merelan suggested that it might be a good idea for Maizella to go to Harper Hall to allow her to work with various masters.
After an evening meal at Benden Weyr, nobody noticed that Maidir and S'loner had left the table, until a piercing scream from Weyrwoman Jora's Nemorth roused everyone. Upon questioning, it was determined that the watchrider had seen two people, who he assumed to be S'loner and Maidir, aboard S'loner's Chendith, before Chendith went between forever. No one could explain why Maidir had accompanied S’loner on what was his last flight, although Lady Hayara said that her spouse was very tired. And, even though S’loner may have looked strong and healthy, he was having chest pains far too frequently.
