Glows were a type of luminous mycelium that grew in the caves of Pern. They were used by Pern residents to light dark areas. Glows were usually shielded during daylight so as not to waste their light.
Glows were first discovered by Mo Tan Liu during the EEC survey of Pern. He took a sample of one and was pleased to discover that it glowed in the dark.
